Things to do around Polruan
One of the 100 best walks in the UK. The well sign posted walk takes about 2 hours and follows Pont Pill to Boddinnick, there are superb views at a number of points. The Old Ferry Inn makes an excellent lunch stop and afterwards you can take the car ferry over to Fowey and then walk through the town to the passenger ferry for your return to Polruan. |

Take the passenger ferry to Fowey and head out of town along the Esplanade through Readymoney cove and past St. Catherines castle. Follow the path heading for the red and white lighthouse, you really can't miss it. You can make this a circular walk by continuing onto Polkerris and returning across country by The Saints Way. |
This is a serious trek of 9 miles but lots of ups and downs and exposed to the elements. We've only ever done it one way and were very glad to have arranged a lift back, in the summer there is a bus service between Polperro and Polruan (not on Saturdays). A taxi, when available, costs about £9. |

Walks from
Lerryn
There are two good walks on either side of the River Lerryn. Park your car in the centre of the Lerryn and either cross the bridge/stepping stones and head for Mill wood continuing onto St.Winnow and returning across country. (worth having an OS map with you for this one) Or walk past The Ship, return for a drink later, and head for Ten Acre wood and Manely Pill returning by road from Cliff Pill, 3 miles in total. |
On the way to Polperro, the coastal path runs past it, this is the closest beach to Polruan. As with all good beaches you have to park on the headland and walk down to the cove about 15 minutes in total but well worth it. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year. |

Wander around Fowey
Numerous shops, art galleries, restaurants, cafes, fish & chips, pubs, museum, aquarium, life boat station and banks with cash point. Don't miss the last ferry back, check the times with the ferryman. |
Try to get on a trip with Dan who runs the best River Trips from Polruan Quay. Otherwise consider; by canoe Fowey River expeditions (01726 ) in a hired motor boat from Fowey Boat hire (01726 833920) or on a skippered boat the Le Nu (01726 833289). It is possible to visit Golant, St Winnow and Lerryn dependant on the tides. |

Coastal Exploration
Whether for fishing, nature watching or visiting inaccessible coves it is possible to arrange skippered boats such as the Le Nu. It is also worth checking notices in the pubs and on the Polraun quay. |
| Possibly a rather grand name for the blockhouse at the mouth of the estuary. Historically, it has seen plenty of action and still fires the imagination of young and old. Also great views out to sea and a good spot to watch the sunset or do some fishing. |
